Walk Stronger with DTC PAD Rehab™
DTC PAD Rehab™ program that is a proprietary CMS-approved, insurance-reimbursed therapeutic program designed specifically for patients diagnosed with Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD)—a common and progressive circulatory condition affecting over 8.5 million Americans. PAD is associated with a significantly higher risk of heart attack, stroke, limb amputation, and premature death, particularly among Medicare-aged adults.
Our proprietary protocol aligns with Medicare’s National Coverage Determination (NCD 20.35) for Supervised Exercise Therapy (SET), which has demonstrated clinical efficacy in increasing walking distances, reducing leg pain (claudication), and improving quality of life in PAD patients. The program includes up to 36 covered sessions over 12 weeks, with the possibility of an additional 36 sessions based on medical necessity and documented improvement—allowing up to 72 lifetime covered sessions.
Each session must last 30–60 minutes and be conducted in a physician’s clinic or hospital outpatient department, per CMS requirements.
The exercise must follow a structured, therapeutic walking-based protocol that alternates between walking to the onset of moderate-to-maximum claudication pain and rest.
Sessions must be led by qualified auxiliary personnel trained specifically in exercise therapy for PAD, ensuring patient safety and therapeutic benefit.
Therapy must be provided under direct supervision of a physician, physician assistant (PA), nurse practitioner (NP), or clinical nurse specialist (CNS)—all of whom must be certified in both basic and advanced life support techniques to meet CMS compliance standards.
CMS recognizes SET as a first-line, non-invasive treatment that can delay or prevent the need for surgical revascularization or amputation in many cases.
No out-of-pocket costs for most Medicare beneficiaries when coverage criteria are met.
Reduces long-term cardiovascular risk by improving circulation and promoting mobility.
Generates reimbursable revenue streams for clinics through CPT code 93668, with national average reimbursement rates ranging from $110–$150 per session depending on payer and geography.
Can be integrated seamlessly into primary care, cardiology, endocrinology, or podiatry practices without the need for new capital equipment.
DTC PAD Rehab™ makes it simple for clinics to implement this life-changing, revenue-generating service with our turnkey support model—covering protocol training, compliance, billing guidance, and staffing where needed.
Studies have shown that people who complete a cardiac rehabilitation program may increase life expectancy up to 5-years
